What is OmegaSelect?
OmegaSelect range is manufactured fome one of the highest quality of essential fatty acids and is made available in a convenient softgel dose.
What are essential fatty acids?
The term “essential fatty acids” refers to two fatty acids (linoleic acid or omega-6 and linolenic acid or omega-3) which our bodies cannot synthesize and thus, must be consumed in the diet or supplied in the form of supplementation.
Why are essential fatty acids so important?
The essential fatty acids are needed for the production of compounds known as eicosanoids – which help regulate blood-clotting, blood pressure, heart rate, immune response and a wide variety of other biological processes.
Who should be using essential fatty acids?
Everyone needs to supplement their diet with essential fatty acids the body cannot produce them naturally.
Why do I need supplementation?
Modern diets are rich in Omega 6 essential fatty acids. For ideal health we need to consume a diet that consists of 4 parts Omega 6 to 1 part Omega 3. Because modern diets are so rich in Omega 6, we find ourselves consuming as much as 30 parts Omega 6 to 1 part Omega 3. The result is high cholesterol, high blood pressure, increased blood viscosity, inflammatory conditions, and many other common ailments. Supplementation together with a healthy eating plan will allow you to bring the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 back to 4:1 thereby ensuring health.

The fact that it is higher in Omega 3 than Omega 6 makes it the ideal supplement to balance out our daily essential fatty acid requirements. Modern diets are rich in Omega 6 and supplements should provide higher concentrations of Omega 3 to promote health.

What role does Salmon oil play in the treatment of ADD and ADHD?
DHA is the primary structural component of brain tissue and a deficiency of DHA in the diet could result in compromised brain function. Recent medical research indicates that DHA could have a positive influence on neurotransmitters in the brain, helping brain cells better communicate with each other.
How important is it to take Salmon oil for brain function?
Infants who have low amounts of DHA in their diet have reduced brain development and diminished visual acuity. The increased intelligence and academic performance of breastfed compared with formula- fed infants has been attributed in part to the increased DHA content of human milk.
The health benefits of Salmon Oil were first noted in Greenland where there was a very low occurrence of heart disease. This was attributed to their diets which were rich in fish such as Salmon which contained a high concentration of Omega 3.
